Celter Schmelter, Scottish based Klezmer ensemble evoke that heartfelt tension between joy and sadness of the Jewish shtetl (village) wedding. Celter Schmelter have been the social glue of many Scottish/Jewish gatherings, weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, and festivals around the country. From irresistible dance tunes, to poignant, a-rhythmic doinas, let the music of Celter Schmelter transport you to the old world of the Klezmorim – to a world of passionately felt music, simple, haunting, and played from the heart.

Three years after their first gig at Penicuik Arts we welcome back the legendary chris and thomas. With sounds gathered from the landscapes of the American southwest, their beautifully woven harmonies and sparse instrumentation will make you think of big skies with small clouds. Chris and Thomas made their name on the Los Angeles club circuit, playing and singing round a single condenser mike like the old bluegrass bands. They overlay their ‘roots’ playing style with soothing vocal harmonies in songs dark with thoughtful lyricism harking back to Simon & Garfunkel. Their song "Take These Thoughts" won the Independent Music Awards in the US as best Americana. Although they’ll perform in bigger venues as part of this European tour, you can see them up close up in Penicuik and hear them just as they should be heard.
